Police in Zamfara intercept high calibre weapons, neutralise suspected gunrunners

The police in Zamfara State, have neutralised two suspected gun runners while trying to transport some sophisticated weapons to a terrorists camp in the state.

The weapons intercepted include three live shells for RPG, two hundred rounds of ammunition for Anti Aircraft Rifle, three explosive shells, one hundred and fifty one rounds of AK-47 ammunition among others.

The spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, Muhammad Shehu said in a statement that the suspects were from Taraba State but were arrested by men of the Zamfara command along the Gummi-Anka road after hours of extensive exchange of gunfire with the gunrunners.

The statement added that the interception became successful following information received about the movement of the suspects in a Toyota Corolla car which they used to convey the weapons from Taraba State with the intention of delivering them to terrorists camp in Zamfara State.
