Police repel terrorists in Katsina

The Police in Katsina say one suspected terrorist has been killed and many others sustained gunshot wounds,one AK 47 rifle with twenty-two rounds of live 7.62 millimeters ammunition recovered in an encounter on Monday.

 

Spokesman of the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah said in a statement that the incident occurred at Kesassa village in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

 

According to him, on March 27 at about 2:30 pm, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, blocked Danmusa – Yantumaki Road in Danmusa Local Government Area.

 

He said as a result of the call, the District Police Officer, DPO, led a team of policemen to the area, engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and successfully repelled them.

 

Isah added that in the course of scanning the scene, one of the terrorists was neutralized and his dead body recovered.

 

Additionally, one AK 47 rifle with twenty-two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition of AK 47 rifle was also recovered.

 

Many of the terrorists according to the police image maker, were reasonably believed to have been neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds saying, search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view to arresting them or recovering their dead bodies.

 

The Command appealed to members of the communities in the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected gunshot injury.
