PDP Challenges INEC Declaration

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 18 governorship election in Nasarawa state, David Ombugadu, has filed a petition at the Election Tribunal challenging the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election.

In the petition submitted to the tribunal, both the PDP and the governorship candidate stated that the declaration of Sule as the winner of the governorship election was done in error, accusing state officials of the Independent national electoral commission of connivance.

According to the petition, the results from Nasarawa, Awe, Keffi, and Lafia councils as declared by the state Returning Officer, Professor Ishaya Tanko, were totally at variance with that of INEC Certify True Copy (CTC), polling units and INEC iRev portal, wondering where the state Returning Officer got his results.

The petitioners expressed hope that the judiciary would be fair and just in retrieving what they described as their “stolen mandate” freely given by the people of the state.
