PDP Jittery Over Zamfara Re-run Election- APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in a counter allegation to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that the Zamfara State PDP is now confused and jittery over Saturday, April 15, re-run elections slated by INEC for the Zamfara Central and two House of Representatives positions.

The APC in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, said the PDP is crying about a situation that was caused by them, alleging that they used the army to intimidate APC supporters and stakeholders at the last elections.

The statement is quoted as saying, “Funny enough, since members of the PDP were exposed for having used some corrupt army officers, without the knowledge of the army high command, now that they cannot use the same method, they have resolved to blackmailing the police, for trying to do the right thing, to ensuring a peaceful process”.

It described the PDP’s alleged friendship existing between the IGP and Governor Bello Mohammed as unfounded because if Mohammed had the IGP, there would have been stronger resistance when the PDP used soldiers against the APC.

The APC described Governor Bello Mohammed as a peace-loving gentleman, who will stop at nothing, for the safety of his people, and this is a principle no one can deny him of, so the PDP should face what they have caused Zamfara people, and stop the unwarranted blame.

APC in its words, “recalls that when the electoral umpire declared Dauda Lawal Dare as the winner of the March 18, governorship election in the state, PDP thugs went haywire destroying and stealing government and APC private individuals properties, especially in the state capital, Gusau.”

APC said they want to encourage the police not to be deterred by the cheap blackmail being peddled by the PDP, to justify the return of soldiers for the upcoming re-run elections, but carry out their constitutional duties, to maintain law and order.

The party also commended the people of Zamfara, especially members of the APC for remaining calm, and urged them to come out en mass and vote massively for the success of the APC candidates on Saturday.
