No fewer than six people have been confirmed dead after a petrol-laden tanker exploded at Bauchi road in Jos North Local Government Council Area of Plateau State.
The explosion which occurred on Thursday at about 3pm, few minutes from the University of Jos Main Campus, also left unspecified number of persons injured, with cars, shops and buildings in the area affected.
Eye witnesses said about 6 bodies have been recovered from the scene of the accident which they blamed on Break failure.
As at the time of filing in this report, number of injured persons could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, the Jos North Council Chairman Shehu Bala, has sympathised with the victims and assured that the council will constitute a communitee to investigate the accident with a view to taking measures to forestall future occurrence.
