Another party withdraws petition against Tinubu’s victory

Two days after telling the court that it had a weight of evidence of infractions against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and President-elect, Bola Tinubu over the 2023 presidential election, the Action Peoples Party, (APP), has announced a withdrawal of its case at the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja.

 

Counsel for the APP, Obed Agu, moved the application at the resumption of the pre-hearing session on Wednesday.

 

The respondents did not oppose the motion for withdrawal, but Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, (SAN), said he hoped other petitioners will do same by withdrawing their petitions.

 

This is the second petition against February’s presidential election to be withdrawn. On Monday, the court dismissed the petition of the Action Alliance after it applied to withdraw same before the court.

 

This leaves three petitions pending before the court. They are that of the Labour Party and Peter Obi, that of the PDP and Atiku Abubakar and that of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM.
