Gunmen kill over 30 people in attack on Plateau communities

Gunmen have reportedly killed over thirty people in a fresh attack on two communities in Mangu Local Government Council Area of Plateau State.

The attack which occured on Tuesday morning at Fungzai and Kubwat villages also left many injured with properties worth millions of Naira destroyed while thousands displaced.

It was gathered that among those killed in the Tuesday attacks included women and children.

An eye witness who is a member of one of the community attacked but does not want his name mentioned revealed that the attackers invaded the two villages in large numbers on Tuesday morning, unlike their usual midnight attack time, and began shooting. The source said with over thirty dead bodies have been found and many people are still not unaccounted for.

The Plateau State Police Command is yet to formally react to the development as at the time of this report.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Governor-elect, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed shock over the attacks.

Mutfwang, in a message, condemned the attack and appealed to security agencies to rise up to their constitutional responsibility of protecting and securing the citizens, particularly rural dwellers.
