Some youth of Udei community of Guma local government area of Benue State have called on the Military to desist from violating their fundamental human rights alleging that the said operatives had stormed the community harassing, intimidating and restricting residents of the area.
President Udei Youth Forum Terhemba Ortoo who raised the alarm during a press conference in Makurdi the state capital said residents were stopped from engaging in educational,economic or even religious activities in the past few days.
The farming community of Udei situated in Nyiev,Guma local government area of the State have suffered ceaseless attacks from invaders believed to be herders sacking most homes.
As part of measures to curtail this menace the Federal set up military opera tions in the past,currently the military operation whirl stroke has been enlisted to tackle this threat but according to locals the attacks have continued unabated.
A recent unusual influx of unfamiliar security personnel to the already troubled community raises these concerns by the youth forum of the area.
According to the pressure group the security personnel disrupted educational, religious and economic activities for about 3 days creating untold hardship and wide spread panic.
They are therefore demanding amongst others the security personnel desist from trampling on the fundamental rights such as right to education and freedom of worship.
The socio cultural group says it is the highest act of treachery and treason for military personnel to use the instrument of government to protect the interests of a particular group at the cost and lives of other citizens.
