The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has expressed hope President Bola Tinubu favours members of the party in the numerous appointments his administration is yet to make.

While addressing APC state chairpersons during a leadership meeting in Abuja on Monday, July 10, 2023, the former Nasarawa governor and senator said party members can expect to get some patronage from the new government.

However, he called for patience from members to allow the president make the appointments first before demands are made of him.

The 76-year-old also appealed to Tinubu to consult party leaders in his appointment decisions.

“It is our hope and prayers that Mr President will come along with us in that regard and strengthen the relationship of the party in the states and at the national level will enjoy some level of patronage in the new government,” he said.

The party postponed its national caucus and national executive committee (NEC) meetings, originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, July 11, due to President Tinubu’s absence.

Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday night, a day after he emerged chairman of ECOWAS at the organisation’s 63rd session which held in Guinea-Bissau.

Tinubu has made a series of appointments since his inauguration on May 29, including the that of new security chiefs in June.

By law, he’s expected to submit a list of ministerial nominees to the National Assembly before July 29. The constitution mandates the president to pick at least one nominee from each of the 36 states.

Tinubu also still has numerous appointments to make in dozens of ministries, departments and agencies (MDA).
