Nigeria’s House of Representatives on Thursday resolved to investigate the increasing incidences of aviation fuel contamination in the country.
The House passed the resolution following a motion on the urgent need to probe the violation which members noted poses air travel risks and may be a result of possible non-adherence to standard operating procedures.
The lawmakers expressed concerns that several flights accidents in the past have been attributed to fuel contamination, hence the need to take urgent steps to make industry players adhere to best practices.
The members alleged that unregistered portfolio jet fuel marketers are behind the act and must be brought to book.
The House immediately resolved to constitute an Adhoc committee to probe the matter and report back within 4 weeks.
