Music promoter, Samson Balogun also known as Sam Larry, has been arrested by the police in connection with the investigation of the death of Afrobeat star, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad.
Mohbad died on Tuesday September 12, 2023, in Lagos. His sudden death has sparked a nationwide protest with fans and Nigerians calling for an investigation to unravel what may have killed the 27-year old.
He had a running battle with Marlian Music after quitting the record label in 2022 alleging bullying in internet video posts.
Marlian Music is owned by Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley. Sam Larry is a close associate of Marley and they have both been accused of acts that may have contributed to the death of Mohbad also known as Imole.
The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ben Hundeyin confirmed that Sam Larry has been arrested in a post on his X (former Twitter)handle in the early hours of Friday.
“Balogun Olamilekan Eletu aka Sam Larry is now in our custody. He is currently assisting with ongoing investigation”, Hundyin said in the post.
