Naira Marley taken into custody as police intensify investigation into Mohbad’s death

The Lagos State Police Command has taken musician and record label owner, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley into custody as part of the investigation into the death of Afrobeat star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

Mohbad died suddenly in Lagos on August 12, 2023, a development that sparked a nationwide protest.

Naira Marley owns Marlian Music the record label to which Mohbad was signed on until 2022 when they fell out.

There was obvious bad blood between Mohbad and the label. Internet videos shared by the late musician alleged bullying by Marley and his associates including Samson Balogun popularly known as Sam Larry.

Sam Larry was arrested by the police on Thursday night as part of the investigation into Mohbad’s death on and they promised to cast the net wider in the investigation.

The police announced the arrest of Marley in a post by the spokesperson of the Lagos command, Benjamin Hundeyin’s X (Twitter)handle in Tuesday evening.

Hundeyin said: “Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities…”

Inkblot Productions, a trailblazer in the Nigerian film industry, has unveiled the much-anticipated crime thriller, “No Way Through,” set to exclusively premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video this December. The star-studded cast includes Nollywood luminaries Funke Akindele, Chidi Mokeme, Chioma Chukwuka, Ikechukwu, Nengi Adoki, Seun Ajayi, Jnr Pope, Eso Dike, Roberta Oroma, and Sheggz Olusemo.
