In a significant turn of events during the ongoing election in Imo State, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, has clinched a resounding victory against Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Senator Anyanwu, one of the 17 candidates vying to unseat Governor Uzodimma, achieved a remarkable triumph at his polling unit located at Amaimo Central School, Amaimo ward, Ikeduru LGA.

As results continue to emerge following the conclusion of voting across various polling units in the state, Anyanwu secured a landslide victory at his base. The official results sheet from Amaimo Central School, signed by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presiding officer Aka Anthony, revealed that the PDP candidate garnered 122 votes out of the 124 accredited.

Governor Uzodimma, the incumbent and APC candidate, obtained a meager two votes, while the remaining 16 contestants, including Labour Party’s Senator Athan Achonu, failed to secure any votes.

It’s worth noting that the polling unit has 750 registered voters, but only 124 voters participated in the electoral process, highlighting the significant margin by which Senator Anyanwu dominated at this crucial stage of the election.
