Tinubu meets Labour leaders over minimum wage

The leadership of the organized labour has arrived at the Presidential Villa, Abuja for a meeting with President Bola Tinubu over the protracted minimum wage impasse in the country.

The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero and his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Festus Osifoh, led the organized labour delegation to the president’s office at about 2 pm. 

Osifo, had confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that President Tinubu invited them for a meeting.

Following the conclusion of negotiations by the Tripartite Committee and the submission of the report to President Tinubu, parties have been waiting for the next line of action.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris are also expected at the meeting. 

Organized labour is asking for a minimum of N250,000 as the minimum wage whereas the federal government has proposed N62,000.
