Abducted medical students, others freed — Police

The 20 abducted medical students of the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, on Friday, regained their freedom after spending nine days in their kidnappers’ den.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the development adding that seven other kidnap victims were also rescued during the operation.

The victims were on their way to Enugu state, passing through Otukpo Local Government area in Benue before they encountered bandits.

The students were said to be travelling in a convoy of two buses and were coming from the northern part of the country when they ran into the ambush on Thursday evening at about 5:30 pm.
