Vice President Shettima vows to tackle Borno flood head-on

Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will tackle the challenges of flood in Nigeria head-on.

Shettima made this promise during his visit to Maiduguri, Borno State, to assess the devastating floods that have displaced communities in the state.

“We will overcome this tragedy as long as our resolve remains strong, as long as we remain united, as long as we remain compassionate, and as long as we prioritise strategic actions to emerge from this even stronger than ever,” Shettima said.

The Vice President commiserated with victims of the flood disaster and disclosed that President Tinubu has assured that the federal government will prioritize the welfare of affected communities.

“The flood’s unprecedented scale has presented challenges beyond our previous experiences. Nonetheless, the Federal Government remains determined in its commitment,” Shettima said.

He explained that the government has developed a comprehensive roadmap to address the challenges of flood, and efforts are ongoing to evacuate and resettle residents in affected areas, while ensuring the provision of food, shelter, and medical assistance until the situation stabilizes.
