Tuck accident claims one life in Lagos

A devastating accident occurred on CMS Bridge, Lagos Island, on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of one life and leaving another severely injured.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the fatal crash involved a containerized truck and a commercial Suzuki mini vehicle.

The incident unfolded at approximately 6:15 a.m. when the truck driver pulled over to address a mechanical issue.

In a shocking turn of events, the Suzuki mini vehicle, traveling at excessive speed, collided with the truck driver, causing fatal injuries. The driver died instantly.

“We urge motorists to exercise heightened vigilance and adhere to traffic regulations, especially in densely congested areas,” said Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA.

A female passenger in the Suzuki sustained severe eye injuries and was rushed to General Hospital, Odan, Lagos Island, for emergency medical treatment. LASTMA personnel responded swiftly to the scene, working closely with officers from the Ebute-Ero Police Division, LASMABUS, and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit.

The police secured the area, facilitated the removal of the deceased’s remains, and ensured a seamless flow of traffic.

LASTMA expressed its deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and remains committed to promoting road safety and preventing such tragic occurrences in the future.
