The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Saturday arrested “political thugs” in Edo state.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson on his X handle madethis known.
On Saturday, electorates in Edo state will troop out to vote for their preferred candidate in the governorship election.
Despite the 17 cleared candidates by the electoral umpire, all eyes are on three major contenders — Asuerinme Ighodalo (PDP), Monday Okpebholo (APC) and Olumide Akpata (LP).
He said the arrest was “a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb electoral violence in Edo State.”
“With the arrest of two political thugs, namely: Edwin Obanor, 43-year-old and Audu Tajudeen, a 41-year-old PDP member from Ugbogbo quarters, Igara Akoko, Edo.”
