BUA Group donates N2bn to Borno flood victims

BUA Group has donated N2 billion to support victims of flooding in Maiduguri, Borno state.

Floods displaced thousands of residents from their homes Maiduguri, Borno’s capital.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said more than 30 people died and over 400,000 have been displaced due to the flood in the state capital.

In a statement on Tuesday, BUA Group donated N1 billion in cash and essential food supplies worth N1 billion to help alleviate the suffering of displaced persons and communities impacted by the floods.

The organisation said food items like flour, pasta, sugar, rice, and other essential goods will be distributed to the most affected areas to provide relief to the victims.

Abdulsamad Rabiu, chairman of BUA Group during a visit said the flooding inflicted severe hardship on thousands of families.

“At BUA, we believe it is our responsibility, as an organisation deeply rooted in the fabric of Nigerian society, to act swiftly and meaningfully in providing relief to those affected,” he said.

“Our N2 billion donation to the victims of the recent flooding in Borno is our own way of supporting the most vulnerable in times of crisis.

“Our thoughts are with the families and individuals who have been affected by this disaster. As we continue to extend our support, we urge other corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to join us in this effort to restore hope and rebuild lives.”
