The mother of two died after a brief illness in Tuesday,  the Cable reported.

The deceased was the first daughter of Rasaq Gawat, the popular TV presenter and cleric who disappeared mysteriously.

She delved into the Islamic music scene in 2015 and rose to fame after releasing songs about the disappearance of her father with ‘Aye Le’ sing.

Jubril Gawat, senior special assistant on new media to Lagos governor, who is a relative to the singer, mourned her in a post via X.

“Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return,” the post reads.

Also one Aribidesi At-tawdeeh, the Ilorin-based cleric, also confirmed Gawat’s demise in a tribute post via Facebook on Tuesday.

“Our Sympathy goes to the family of Ruqayat Gawat for this great loss. May Allah forgive her shortcomings! Ruqayat Gawat is gone,” he wrote.

In 2016, the singer won City People Magazine’s ‘Best Female Islamic Musician’ award. She also clinched the ‘Best Islamic Artiste’ category at the 2017 City People Music Award.
