Burna Boy: Speed Darlington released on bail

Outspoken Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been released on bail after spending five days in detention.

He was detained since Friday for allegedly defaming and cyberstalking his colleague, Burma Boy.

The singer was released on Tuesday night following an intervention by a lawyer, Deji Adeyanju after meeting the bail conditions set by the police at the intelligence response team’s (IRT) department in Abuja.

Backstory

Speed Darlington, known for his eccentric and humorous online persona, allegedly went missing on October 8, 2024.

Reports suggest that he was arrested at his residence three days earlier, following the release of a video in which he made fun of Burna Boy’s connection with American rapper Sean “P Diddy” Combs.

P Diddy has been embroiled in a legal scandal after being arrested by the FBI on multiple charges, including sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and slavery.
