The Super Eagles of Nigeria have consolidated their position atop Group D of the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
They defeated their Libyan counterparts the Mediterranean Knights 1-0 in Uyo.
The encounter decided at a near capacity Godswill Akpabio stadium saw the Super Eagles dominate possession but with little end product untill the 87th minute when substitute Fisayo Dele Bashiru broke the deadlock.
The victory gives the Super Eagles a comfortable lead with 7 points from 4 matches while Benin Republic beat Rwanda 3-0 to maintain the heat on Nigeria in second place on the Group D log.
A win for the Super Eagles in their second leg clash with the Libyans on Tuesday would all but guarantee a ticket for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco next year.
