Wike-Fubara feud beyond repair, Fayose declares
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared that reconciliation between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, is now impossible. Speaking on Channels Television’s *Sunday Politics* on October 13, 2024, Fayose expressed doubt that the political rift, which has engulfed Rivers State in violence, can be healed.
The feud between the once-close allies has escalated into a full-blown supremacy battle, fracturing the state’s political landscape. The fallout has led to violent clashes, including the death of four people following the controversial local government elections. Fayose believes the breach of trust between the two leaders has irreversibly damaged their relationship, making a political solution unlikely.
“Even if you want to resolve this matter, how do you put the trust back?” Fayose questioned, adding that the crisis has “crossed the Rubicon” and is now beyond reconciliation.
