Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has won the presidential election conducted in Nigeria on Saturday.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who also doubles as the Returning Officer for the election declared Tinubu, a former two-term governor of Lagos winner of the keenly contested election on the early hours of Wednesday. Yakubu said the APC Candidate scored a total of eight million, seven hundred amd ninety four thousand, seven hundred and twenty six (8,794,726) votes in the contest. Former vice president and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, scored a total of six million, nine hundred and eighty four, five hundred and twenty (6,984,520) votes to come second. The Labour Party Candidate Peter Obi came third with six million, one hundred and one thousand, five hundred and thirty three (6,101,533) votes. Professor Mahmood said the Certificate of Return for the President-elect will be issued on Wednesday February 29, 2023.
