A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday declared the impeachment of Phillip Shuaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State null and void and of no consequence.
Justice James Omotoso, who presided over proceedings declared the exercise by the Edo State House of Assembly unconstitutional. He described the impeachment as a gross violation of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The court also ordered that Mr Shuaibu’s salaries, allowances and all other benefits that had been stopped since his impeachment in April, be paid to him fully.
The court also ordered that his security details be restored to him.
