Senate to vet Tinubu’s fresh faces for key ministerial roles today

The Nigerian Senate is set to screen President Bola Tinubu’s seven new ministerial nominees on Tuesday, October 29. This follows Tinubu’s formal request last week, presented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging the Senate to confirm his selections to reinforce his cabinet’s vision.

Key nominees include Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu for Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, tapped for Minister of Labour and Employment. Other notable candidates are Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development; Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State, Education; Idi Maiha for Minister of Livestock Development; and Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State, Housing.

All nominees have reportedly cleared security checks by the Department of State Services (DSS). On Monday, they were seen at the office of Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, where they submitted their CVs in preparation for today’s session.
