Police Arrest Two For Allegedly Stoning Driver To Death In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command says it has arrested two suspects who allegedly stoned a 35-year-old man, Olorunfemi Tope, to death in Akure.

Tope was killed by an angry mob for alleged reckless driving leading to a road crash that occurred in the Ijoka Area of Akure, the state capital.

The accident resulted in the death of two persons and six others injured.

The Irate mob had allegedly beaten and stoned Tope to death and set his car ablaze.

The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said police detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

Omisanya said the suspects will be charged to court for murder and arson.

Meanwhile the state’s acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on residents to have trust in the rule of law. A statement from his office on Tuesday said the statr government will not condone any form of mob action and hooliganism in the pursuit of justice anywhere in the State.
