DSS Investigates Officer Who Admitted Receiving N2bn To influence Adamawa Governorship Election

An Assistant Director with the State Security Services, SSS, is under investigation after video emerged of him admitting to receiving the sum of two billion Naira to unlawfully announce APC’s Aishatu Ahmed Binani as the winner of the Adamawa State governorship election.

In the video, the disheveled looking man in a torn brown brocade caftan was seen ferried in the back of a Toyota Hilux truck after the botched announcement along with another man identified to be an National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In reaction the development, the SSS throught its spokesperson, Peter Afunnaya, issued a statement late on Sunday saying the agency has commenced a full investigation into the development

The communication reads: “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to a trending video on the social media in which someone suspected to be its staff was allegedly manhandled by some political miscreants in Adamawa State. This followed developments arising from the supplementary governorship election in the State.

“The Service wishes to inform the public that it has commenced a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident”.

The Service called for calm, imploring concerned parties in Adamawa State to remain peace loving and shun violence.
