Former NBA President, Okey Wali Kidnapped For The Second Time

A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okey Wali SAN has been kidnapped by unknown persons in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

In a statement issued by the NBA President, Yakubu Maikyau Wali was abducted in the early hours of Monday, April 17, 2023 after his convoy was allegedly attacked along East-West Road, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, one of his security men was allegedly killed during the abduction.

Maikyau who also pleaded with the kidnappers to release the former president said the weakness in the security system and the failure of successive governments to live up to the Constitutional duty of providing for the welfare and security of all Nigerians must be swiftly address.

He however urge the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, to leave no stone unturned as they work towards the safe release of Okey Wali

This is the second time that the former NBA president will be abducted. He was kidnapped on October 11, 2014 and released on October 24, having spent 13 days in kidnappers custody.

Okey Wali, SAN was the 26th President of the NBA and has served this nation in varying capacities, contributing immensely to the growth of legal practice and in the promotion and entrenchment of the rule of law.

He is a known philanthropist who has helped in the development of his community in no small measure
