Zamfara State Government has reinstated the suspended emir of Birnin Yandoto Aliyu Garba Marafa to the throne.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Kabiru Balarabe said, the emir reinstatement is based on the recommendations of the Committee constituted to investigate all issues about the conferment of a traditional title to a repentant bandit, Ado Aleiru, which the committee found no evidence of any ill motive or collaboration between the Emir and the bandit.

The statement added that the findings of the committee revealed that the traditional title was conferred on the repentant bandit as part of peace-building efforts between the repentant bandit and banditry-affected communities in Tsafe and Gusau Local Government Areas, which included Yandoto town.

It said, the reinstatement takes immediate effect.

It would be recalled that the emir of Birnin Yandoto, one of the newly created emirates in Zamfara State had on July, last year conferred a traditional title to a bandit kingpin Ado Aliero, a development which generated reactions that forced the State Government to suspend the new emir, Aliyu Garba Marafa from the throne.

The committee constituted by the Governor Bello Mohammed led administration for the last ten months to investigate the matter but nothing has been from them until this Sunday when the State Government released a statement saying it has reinstated the suspended emir.
