The FCT Police Command said all the families kidnapped alongside the family of the 400 level student Naheeba Al-Kadriyar on the 9th of January 2024 have been rescued and reunited with their families.
In a press statement signed by the Police public Relations Officer FCT Command Josephine Adeh on Sunday said the Victims were rescued around kajuru forest in Kaduna state at about 11:30 pm on Saturday 20th January 2024.
The statement said the successful operations was made possible Following the relentless advancement of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Anti-Kidnapping squad and the troops of the Nigerian Army,
The statement said the team has been on the heels of the kidnappers that struck the Zuma 1 area in the Bwari Area Council on the 2nd of January 2024 leading to the rescue of the victims who are now reunited with their families .
While appreciating the Inspectors General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun for the deployment of the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad that has helped the existing security architecture in the FCT, the Commissioner of Police FCT Command Haruna Garba wishes to reiterate the Commands commitment to sustaining the robust security deployment made in the area and other parts of the Territory for the utmost maintenance of peace for all residents.
Meanwhile the four children of Alhassan Sidi and five members of his extended family as well as the family of the District Head of Kawu in the same Bwari Area Council are still with their abductors hoping on God and the Intervention of the security and government to rescue them alive
Their abductors had demanded the sum of sixty million Naira as ransom for each of the families to secure their release
It is however not clear weather or not ransom was paid for their release.
