In a significant display of unity and commitment to the progress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West zone, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State welcomed his Osun State counterpart, Ademola Adeleke, at the State Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, on Friday. The meeting between the two governors was marked by discussions centered around fostering harmony within the PDP and advancing the development agenda for the South-West geopolitical zone.
Addressing reporters after their deliberations, Makinde emphasised the paramount importance of unity within the PDP. He stated, “We discussed issues around the unity of our party in the South-West and alignment, I can assure you that we will do what we are supposed to do.” The commitment to party cohesion and regional development was evident in their discussions, underlining the governors’ shared dedication to the PDP’s success and the prosperity of the South-West region.
Governor Adeleke echoed this sentiment, highlighting the substantial and positive discussions they had regarding the South-West PDP. He affirmed their resolution to align their efforts for the greater good of the party. Adeleke also commended Governor Makinde for his administration’s remarkable strides in infrastructure development within Oyo State. Drawing parallels, he noted that Osun State, under his leadership, has been following a similar trajectory of substantial infrastructure development.
During the visit, Governor Adeleke addressed members of the Oyo State Executive Council, stressing the fraternity and collaborative spirit that bind the two states. “Oyo State is moving forward, and Osun State is moving forward because Gov. Makinde and I are brothers. I want you all to continue to support Gov. Makinde because he is doing well in terms of infrastructure and other aspects of governance. Osun has also been moving forward,” Adeleke affirmed.
The gathering showcased a harmonious relationship between the governors, symbolising a commitment to collaborative efforts that transcend state boundaries.
