Gunmen suspected to be political thugs attacked the convoy of the Labour Party Governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes- Vivour during his campaign at Epe, Lagos state at the weekend.
A former commissioner under governor Akinwunmi Ambode ‘s administration, Olawale Oluwo was said to have narrowly escaped unhurt when the thugs reportedly shot at the campaign convoy during the campaign walk of the Labour party in the community on Saturday.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in his verified Twitter handle Sunday said there has been lots of threats and assassination attempts on his life in recent times.
He confirmed that the shooting incident took place at Ita Opo area of Epe town while on a campaign rally in company of Wale Oluwo, the Boot Party governorship candidate who collapsed his structure for him a few weeks back.
The attackers according to Rhodes-Vivour shot sporadically missing their targets by the whiskers as they tried to block the road preventing the convoy from entering into their arena.
He said despite the attack, the procession was successful as the security details attached to his campaign team repelled the hoodlums.
