President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled newly designed N1,000, N500 and N200 notes.
The unveiling took place on Wednesday morning at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.
The policy to redesign the notes was announced on October 26, 2022 by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele almost two decades since the last redesign of the Naira.
The policy takes effect from December 15, 2022, while the new and existing currencies will remain legal tender and circulate together until January 31, 2023.
