The deadline for interested parties to submit new bids to buy Manchester United has been extended having originally been set for 2100GMT on Mar. 23.
The only two bidders to declare their interest – INEOS owner Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim – requested for the deadline to be extended as they’re yet to submit revised bids to buy the club.
BBC Sport reported that several other proposed investments had submitted their bids by the original deadline.
It is not clear when the new deadline is for Ratcliffe and Jassim to submit their bids.
Manchester United’s current U.S. owners, the Glazer family are seeking around £6 billion ($7.3 billion) having bought the club for £790 million ($968.30 million) in 2005 as part of a highly leveraged deal.
There are thought to be multiple other interested parties with media reports suggesting the CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk was also considering a bid.
In August, Musk – the world’s richest person, tweeted he was buying the club – only to say a little later it was all part of “a long-running joke”.
United, managed by Erik ten Hag, are third in the league on 50 points after 26 games, 19 points behind league leaders Arsenal.
