In a shocking turn of events, Marvel Studios has swiftly dropped actor Jonathan Majors following his recent conviction for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. The Manhattan court jury delivered the verdict on December 18, 2023, finding Majors guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment. Presiding Judge Michael Gaffey has set the sentencing date for February 6, 2024, leaving Majors facing the possibility of up to a year in jail or probation.
Marvel Studios and the Walt Disney Company wasted no time in severing ties with the actor, announcing his dismissal just hours after the jury’s decision. The trial originated from a March incident between Majors and his ex-partner, during which Jabbari claimed he attacked her in a car, leaving her in “excruciating” pain. She detailed allegations of Majors hitting her in the head, twisting her arm behind her back, and fracturing her middle finger. Majors vehemently denied all accusations, with his defense claiming that Jabbari was the aggressor.
