The Plateau State government alongside 12 members of the state house of Assembly have appealed the Judgement of Justice Nafisat Musa who reinstated Ayuba Abok as the Speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly, 18 Months after he was impeached.
Chairman House Commitee on Information Daniel Naโanlong, who stated this while addressing Newsmen in Jos, said they are approaching the appeal Court to seek for stay of execution.
Ayuba Abok had resumed office on Tuesday as Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and even Presided Over a sitting following a Judgment which declared his impeachment of 28th October 2021 as illegal.
But the appellant claimed that the judge erred in law when she refused to entertain the notice of Preliminary objection filed by the Defendants challenging the jurisdiction of the trial court to entertain the Claimants suit but rather dismissed same hearing it.
The appellant are also seeking for an order setting aside the judgment of the lower court and sending the case back to the High Court of Justice of Plateau State for retrial by another Judge
The house Majority leader Daniel Naโanlong, while sharing more light on the appeal argued that the impeachment of Abok took place when he was Speaker of the House under the APC and has now defected to the PDP, which made his seat vacant according to the Constitution.
