It was an emotional moment for the Senate Chief Whip and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Kalu as he made his submission during the Senate valedictory session on Saturday.
Kalu fighting tears as he stood to address his colleagues said he went through one of the most difficult periods in his life during the 9th Senate when he went to jail allegedly for corrupt practices.
He said before he became a Senator, he could afford anything money can buy with his various investments and businesses employing over 13,000 staff.
He lamented that the country is unfair to him and declared that he is not a thief, saying those that sent him to prison knew the reason behind their actions.
He added that despite his ordeal he will not give up on the unity of Nigeria.
He thanked his colleagues for the love and support all through his ordeal when he was handed twelve years jail term after being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of misappropriating a sum of N7.6 billion
