Three months to the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bose Mustapha, has inaugurated the Presidential Transition Council to oversee a seamless transition of power to the next administration on May 29, 2023.
The president signed Executive Order number 14 into law on the 7th of February establishing the Presidential Transition Council that will facilitate a smooth and seamless transition of power from one presidential administration to another.
Mustapha during the inauguration of the Council in Abuja on Tuesday said one of the main objectives is to facilitate communication between the outgoing president with the president elect. He assured that the next government will receive the right support to make an early and quick start.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation responded on behalf of members of the council promising that they will work with utmost commitment to ensure a peaceful transition of power.
Members of the council include: the Chief of Defense Staff, Director General of State Security Service, National Security Adviser and the Inspector General of Police among others.
