Sports Development minister, Senator John Owan Enoh has congratulated the Super Eagles over their emphatic victory against São Tomé and Principe in Uyo.
The Super Eagles finished off their opponents 6-0 to round off the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 qualifying series sitting pretty with aplomb on top of the log.
Enoh congratulated them for rewarding the support of Nigerians with a good performance, while charging the team to bring home the AFCON next year.
To this end, senator Owan-Enoh said the ministry will work round the clock to ensure the team gets the best preparation possible, in the quest to bring glory to Nigeria.
Noting that the players have displayed commitment to the national colours, the minister urged them to maintain the tempo of renewed sense of patriotism needed as a catalyst to succeed at the AFCON.
The Super Eagles bagged 15 points from six games to secure top spot in Group A.
Victor Osimhen grabbed a hatrick to become Nigeria’s fourth all-time highest goalscorer with 20 goals.
Goals from Ademola Lookman, Taiwo Awoniyi and Samuel Chukwueze completed the 6-0 rout at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
