Tinubu vows unwavering commitment to reform Nigeria for greater efficiency
President Bola Tinubu reiterated his unwavering determination to reform Nigeria for enhanced efficiency and fairness across all sectors of the nation’s affairs. Speaking during a meeting with Afenifere leaders at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Tinubu emphasized his dedication to steering Nigeria towards economic and social prosperity.
Acknowledging the existing economic challenges, President Tinubu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s resilience, stating, “Nigeria will survive the current economic challenges. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I requested the job, and I am not complaining about it. I take full responsibility.”
Reassuring the nation’s commitment to meeting its international obligations, Tinubu affirmed, “We are meeting our obligations to the international community. To lenders, we have not defaulted, and we are not going to default. We are navigating the twists and bends on the road to Nigeria’s prosperity.”
Highlighting his reform agenda, Tinubu emphasized the importance of fiscal and true federalism, advocating for equitable treatment across all sectors. He underscored the need for collective understanding and support from all Nigerians amid the prevailing economic challenges, assuring that their patience and perseverance would yield positive results.
Reflecting on his past experiences as the former governor of Lagos State, Tinubu recalled similar economic challenges faced during his tenure, emphasizing the need for resilience and perseverance. He emphasized his determination to steer Nigeria responsibly, stating, “We must manage this moment with wisdom and grow Nigeria responsibly.”
Asserting his commitment to re-engineering Nigeria’s finances and curbing selfish interests, Tinubu declared, “We cannot allow Nigeria’s economy to be exploited. We cannot abandon our economy to marauders. I am determined to re-engineer our finances and curb selfish interests permanently.”
In response, Pa Olu Falae, representing Afenifere, commended Tinubu’s dedication to Nigeria’s progress, acknowledging his integrity and courage. Falae urged Tinubu to continue exhibiting fairness and courage, emphasizing these qualities as the cornerstone of the Afenifere family’s values.
