Twelve more Edo train kidnap victims rescued

Twelve more victims of the train attack that happened at the Igueben Train Station in Edo State last week have been rescued by the joint security forces in the state.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Dankwara, made this public in a statement he released on Sunday.

The development brings the total number of victims rescued to eighteen. According to the police, the security forces after gathering technical intelligence stormed a forest at Ugboha and rescued the victims unhurt.

Those rescued include: fifty six years old Eunice Esieba, Marian Mowoe (28), Faith Smart (40), Precious Egwuje (20), Obehi Omaben (39), Ann Benson (42), Akungo (18), Akhimen Ehiemamen (48), Christian Iyere (33), Emmanuel Esieba (67), Iyoha Julius (25) and Aguelle Beatrice (42).
Two officials of the train station at Igueben are, however, still with their captors who escaped with them during the rescue effort by the security forces.
The passengers were kidnapped by the gunmen at Igueben on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
