Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church has called on Nigerians to be wary of purveyors of bad politics as the 2023 elections draw nearer and choose new leaders that can unite different forces and bring them together as brothers.

Bakare in his New Year broadcast at his Oregun, Ikeja Lagos church on Sunday, said the kind of politics played by those seeking political offices can determine what their governance will look like. He then asked Nigerians to eject politicians known for playing such bad politics for those that will serve the public good.

He said now is the time for Nigeria to put in place a leadership that will promote peace, progress, prosperity and possibility as well as inclusiveness in the broadcast which he titled “Bridging the gap between politics and good governance”.

He said the current political process has thrown up many dynamics including ethnic, religious, generational and others which prove that there is still a wide gap between politics and governance in Nigeria.

He however said despite the divisive campaigns with the fears that they bring on what 2023 has in stock for the nation, Nigeria can still emerge better if Nigerians look to God for help to build a greater nation.

Bakare said though Nigeria’s history has been characterised by contention between polarising forces but now is the time for a new set of leaders that can bring every force together as brothers. He tasked Nigerians to ensure that only such new breed of leaders that can reconcile past grievances, end marginalisation and give every constituent part of the nation a prominent seat at the table is good enough to be elected in the 2023 elections.
