Bode George hints on possibility of opposition alliance in Lagos governorship election

A former National Vice Chairman and the Peoples Democratic party, (PDP), Olabode George, says party has not ruled out the possibility of an alliance with any of the political parties in Lagos State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, March 18, 2023.

George who spoke with journalists in Lagos on Thursday said the aim is to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress in the election.

Heconfirmed that the PDP is in talks with other political parties in the state to achieve a common goal that of providing good governance and transform the state.

There are have been reports and suggestions of a possible collaboration between PDP’s governorship candidate for the election, Olajide Adediran and the Labour Party candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. Although the two camps have been denying any such talks. Adediran and Gbadebo were unable to work together when they were both vying for the ticket of the PDP as aspirants back in 2022. Gbadebo then moved away from the PDP to pick the Labour Party’s ticket.

The two candidates remain the greatest threat to the ambition of the ruling All Progressives’ candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to get a reelection.

Bode George, however, did not mention the party that the PDP is discussing wih. He said a final decision will be made public before the election.
