Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has approved the automatic employment of first class graduates of Edo origin from any Nigerian university into the state’s civil service.

This approval was conveyed by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa in Benin City.

He described the act as pace-setting and a worthy move which will equip the State Civil and Public Service with the best brains to engender the vision of making Edo the best place to live and work by 2050.

He noted that the gesture was first given to the Best Graduating Students of Edo State University, Uzairue at its third convocation ceremony but was later extended to the University of Benin and Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Okungbowa says the names of fifteen first class graduates and best graduating students from the universities have since been forwarded to the Civil Service Commission for further action.

Going forward, he wants Vice Chancellors of Nigerian universities to send names such deserving graduates of Edo descent to the State Government for the purpose.
