The highly-anticipated Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominations list has been released ahead of the ninth edition of the prestigious event.
MultiChoice, the organisers of the awards, rolled out the list of nominations of various categories on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
Kunle Afolayan’s Netflix Original, Anikulapo, emerged as the star of the night with 16 nominations, including for Best Overall Movie, Best Yoruba Movie, Best Actress for Bimbo Ademoye, Best Supporting Actress for Sola Sobowale, and Best Supporting Actor for Taiwo Hassan and Yinka Quadri.
Afolayan also scored a Best Director nomination, but Kunle Remi missed out despite his star turn as the film’s titular character.
