Enugu Police Kill Four Suspected Sit-at-Home Enforcers.

Police in Enugu State, South East say it has killed four suspected gunmen who attempted to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in the capital city.

 

A statement by the State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe late Friday explained that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day.

 

Giving details of an alleged encounter between the suspected gunmen and security operatives, DSP Ndukwe said a manhunt after the morning clash with the led to the recovery of the lifeless bodies of four hoodlums in a forest at Awkunanaw, Enugu, where they escaped into.

 

Information has it that the Police had on the said Friday morning, intercepted armed gunmen at a popular point known as “One Day”, around the Awkunanaw – Agbani road area of Enugu metropolis where the suspects snatched a commercial vehicle from its driver at gunpoint for their operation.

 

The Police said it recovered one AK 47 rifle, a magazine loaded with 19 live ammunition of 7.62 calibers, two bottles of petrol bomb and other incriminating exhibits.

 

The Press statement adds that the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani is assuring residents of their security and safety, urging them to disregard any threat of a purported illegal sit-at-home order.
