The new Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite has taken over the mantle of leadership with a pledge to rebrand the country’s global investment outlook through strengthening of processes in line with global best practices.

The minister made this known in her address during the handing and taking over ceremony at the ministry in Abuja.

According to her, the industry trade and investment ministry is like a middleman and facilitator to ensure that the Image of the country is as friendly as the investment opportunities the nation has.

She noted that the ministry would be doing a whole lot of branding for the country to re-introduce nigeria to the world on what it has to make them happy to work with the nation.

Uzoka-Anite further stated that it has to do with having the investment opportunities clearly defined with all the necessary process and procedures clearly spelt to make it easy to access.

The minister expressed optimism that with the calibre of human resources in the Ministry, the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the present administration would be achieved.

She added that the work of the ministry is to create more job opportunities and lift people out of poverty so that micro, small and medium businesses can grow, while existing industries profit better, expand and grow better.

The minister was clear that it is not the era of borrowing, but an era of open doors to attract investors, to bring people to showcase what Nigeria has.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Evelyn Ngige said the Ministry is looking forward to an exciting working relationship with the minister and assured Uzoka-Anite of their support.
