Ogun Government Initiates Payment of 40% Peculiar Allowance to State Workers

The Ogun State government has officially commenced the disbursement of a 40% Peculiar Allowance to its dedicated civil servants. This positive development was confirmed by Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, during an interview with journalists in Abeokuta on Thursday.

Talabi underscored the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promise, as per the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration, to mitigate the economic challenges faced by the workforce. This allowance aims to empower employees, enhancing their capabilities for increased productivity.

Moreover, the Secretary revealed that the conversion of government buses to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by the current administration is another valuable initiative. This move is anticipated to facilitate the mobility of both workers and residents, further improving their daily lives.

He elaborated, saying, “The decision to initiate this payment aligns with our agreement with labor unions to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal. In addition to the three-month payment of N10,000 to state workers, every civil servant is also receiving the peculiar allowance.”

Talabi reiterated that the present administration remains resolute in its commitment to recognize and appreciate the dedicated efforts of the state’s workforce. This endeavor underscores the government’s dedication to improving the well-being of its employees and, by extension, the entire community.
