Tina Knowles defends Beyoncé against skin bleaching allegations

Tina Knowles, mother of global music icon Beyoncé, took to Instagram to vehemently refute claims that her daughter was bleaching her skin after recent photos from the premiere of “The Renaissance” sparked controversy.*

The Instagram post, shared on the evening of Tuesday, November 28, 2023, was a detailed clapback at those suggesting that Beyoncé was attempting to alter her skin color. Knowles, clearly infuriated, addressed the accusations head-on, emphasizing that the controversy stemmed from ignorance and baseless hate.

The post began with a photo from the Renaissance premiere, where Beyoncé appeared in a silver-themed ensemble, complete with a silver wig. Knowles, in her caption, expressed her frustration with the unfounded claims circulating online. She stated, “Came across this today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid, ignorant, self-hating racist statements about her lightening her skin and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white.”

Knowles passionately defended her daughter, explaining that the silver wig was a deliberate choice to align with the theme of the event. She dismissed the accusations as absurd and attributed them to jealousy and hate. “How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy. Duh, she wore silver hair to match her silver dress as a fashion statement clown. ALIEN Superstar duh!” she added.

In the post, Knowles also revealed that TMZ, a prominent media outlet, had reached out to Beyoncé’s hairstylist, Neal Farinah, seeking a statement on the alleged skin bleaching. The outraged mother condemned the audacity of the media outlet to discuss Beyoncé’s blackness with a white woman. “Well, that made my blood boil, that this white woman felt so entitled to discuss her blackness… I am sick of you losers,” Knowles expressed.

Knowles further defended Beyoncé’s character, asserting that she minds her own business, helps people whenever she can, and consistently uplifts and promotes black women and underdogs. Despite the passionate defense, neither Beyoncé nor her team has officially addressed the matter.

The controversy underscores the challenges faced by high-profile individuals in the public eye, where even their artistic choices become the subject of unfounded and harmful speculation. Tina Knowles’ candid response serves as a powerful defense against baseless allegations targeting her daughter’s personal choices and artistic expression.
